DWR Exhibition of Pratt Competition Winners Extended
The monthlong exhibition of the BKLYN DESIGNS™ 2008 winners of the second annual Young Designer Award has been extended another week. Don’t miss this second chance to view the innovative designs of these talented Pratt Industrial Design students, Ian Collings, Gregory Buntain and Robert Volek. At Design Within Reach (DWR) Showroom, 76 Montague St. in Brooklyn Heights through June 12, 2008.
2008 Show Largest to Date!
The sixth annual BKLYN DESIGNS was the largest show to date, featuring 70 exhibitors in 4 show venues. Over 6,500 attendees descended on DUMBO for a sneak preview of the latest trends in contemporary design, a sample of the Target® Design Speaker Series’ stellar lineup of panelists and keynote speakers.
SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER HOURS PARTY @ REBAR
The party will continue on Saturday evening, May 10th after BKLYN DESIGNS has closed for the day. reBar, located at 147 Front Street in DUMBO, will be hosting an after hours party sponsored by Dwell and The Clarett Group. RSVP will be required to rsvp@austerevents.com
dVider Featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
BKLYN DESIGNS exhibitor dVider was honored when asked to add some fun and color using their vinyl wall stickers to the Latif family’s home in Wilmington, DE. The shows designers used the company’s stickers to decorate 9 year old son James’s therapy room as well as the home’s wheelchair elevator. You can see dVider’s stickers in person at BKLYN DESIGNS in Smack Mellon, 92 Plymouth Street.
RE-SURFACE DESIGN LIGHT FEATURED IN INTERIOR DESIGN
Check out RE-SURFACE DESIGN LLC’s SOLO light in the April Issue of Interior Design. The SOLO is a re-mix of the classic microphone as light fixture. the mesh top emits a soft, disco-like glow. Design Accessories Market Returns in 2008
Don’t miss the second edition of BD+, a design accessories mart, created to give show visitors the opportunity to purchase smaller, Brooklyn-made, home and fashion accessories. A jury-selected group of designers will be exhibiting at the Tobacco Warehouse in Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park. Entry to this venue will be FREE throughout the weekend.
Dwell Airstream @ BKLYN DESIGNS
There will be an unusual addition to the DUMBO streetscape during BKLYN DESIGNS 2008. An Airstream, designed by architect and designer Chris Deam (also the husband of Dwell founder Lara Headberg Deam), will be parked in the Tobacco Warehouse in Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park for the duration of the show. Mike Cannell, Dwell’s online editor will conduct live interviews with show exhibitors throughout the weekend inside. These will be recorded and posted in real time on the magazine’s Web site.
